First GHS-DST workshop at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan

The first workshop cum interaction with stakeholders on the “Sustainability of Natural Resources in Bhiwadi Industrial Hub, Alwar district, Rajasthan ” was held on 07.08.2024 at Modern Public school, Bhiwadi. More than 110 students from sic schools, industries, politics, general public and villages participated.

  • Sh.P.K.Saju Principal, highlighted various environmental problems of the area and need to address them.
  • Sh. by Sh.Prathmesh Barar, President GHS welcomed the participants and hoped that this interaction would yield some good results in addressing the enviornemebtal problems of Bhiwadi.
  • S.H. J.K Bhalla described the importance of Bhiwadi as a n industrial hub and its environment and natural resources in the surrounding.
  • Dr H.S Saini told how to preserve the environment and resources from industrial interference keeping in view the geological set up and natural hazards.
  • Dr S. Shekar interacted on the ground water scenario and the extraction practices in excess of the recharge and its danger.
  • Dr A. Mukherjee , CAWTM, dealt in details on the hazards scenario of industrial belt and showed how the ground water and land are being degraded by wrong and unscientific actions of various activities.
  • It was followed by wide and open discussions in which women, elected representatives and industrial entrepreneurs spoke on the realization they got from this workshop and hoped that after understanding the casues of problems they are ina better osition to tackle .

Feed back was taken from all the participants on what they felt about the importance of this interaction and how they are going to interact with the expert group on their environmental problems.
