3rd GHS-DST workshop at Nalagarh (H.P.)

A workshop cum interaction with stakeholders on “ Sustainability of Natural resources in Baddi-Nalagar Industrial Hub was organized on 13.12.2024 at Shivalik Vallay Public School , Nalagarh. This was the third interaction work shop under DST sponsored project. It was attended by 105 participants from industries, NGO, general public and schools (students and teachers).

The workshop progressed in five sessions,

  • First session was conducted by Dr H.S.Saini who briefed about the objectives of workshop highlighted the natural geological and geomorphological setup and the likely impact of the industrial activities on the natural resources of the area.
  • Second session was taken by Sh. IFS who gave a detailed account of the forest resources of Nalagarh-baddi area and the needs to protect them from anthropogenic activities.
  • Dr A. Mukherjee Director CAWTM, MRIIRS Faridabad presented the surface and ground water resources of Nalagarh-Baddi area and pollutants from industrial and agricultural activities.
  • 4. Prof. Dr Nidhi didwania of MRIIRS Faridabad discussed the importance of medicinal plants of the area and threat to them from industrial activities.
  • S. Sunil Saighal Scientist (Rtd) CGWM presented a detailed account of the ground water resources and various types of problems faced by these resources.
  • Besides, the industrialists, teachers and students asked questions about the natural resources and the ways to preserve them and presented their experiences about the water and agricultural problems.
